EXPLORE CORFU FROM MANTO
Beyond the yoga shala, the island begins. Ancient olive groves, mountain villages and a coastline of hidden bays — the northwest of Corfu is best discovered slowly: on foot, by boat or by bike.
Together with our friends at The Taste of Corfu we offer three guided tours for groups staying at Manto. Each one starts on our doorstep or close by, and each can be woven into your retreat programme.
GUIDED HIKE
Olive groves & the old Roman path
Makrades – Krini – Manto
A short transfer brings you to the mountain village of Makrades. From there the trail winds through old olive groves towards Krini, with views of Angelokastro, the Byzantine fortress perched high above the sea.
After a pause at a traditional taverna — the freshly pressed orange juice is worth the stop — the old Roman path leads you gently downhill, back towards Manto. Along the way you meet the wild herbs and plants of Corfu and learn how islanders have used them for generations.
6.5 km · 180 m ascent · moderate · 2–2.5 h walking · 3–3.5 h in total
HIKE & BOAT
Down to the bay, out to Porto Timoni
Manto – Prinilas – Agios Georgios – Porto Timoni
This one starts right at Manto. You walk via Prinilas down to the wide bay of Agios Georgios, with the landscape and the sea in view most of the way.
At the beach a boat is waiting. For about an hour you explore the coastline around Porto Timoni, its twin bays and the small Butterfly Bay. When sea and weather allow, you can swim into a sea cave — a rare moment of light and water. A car or bus brings you back up to Manto.
3.5 km · 130 m elevation · 1 h walking · 1 h by boat · 2.5–3 h in total
E-BIKE TOUR
Mountain villages, Akrotiri & Arillas
Agios Georgios – Magoulades – Agios Stefanos – Arillas
The loop begins in Agios Georgios and climbs via Melissito and Dafni to Magoulades: small roads, olive groves and traditional villages that show the original side of the northwest.
Lunch is at the Akrotiri Café, high above the coast near Agios Stefanos, with a panorama that tends to quiet the table. Then on to Arillas for a swim at its laid-back beach, before the ride closes back in Agios Georgios.
25 km · moderate to challenging · 2 h riding · 4 h in total
For confident, experienced riders only. Corfu goes up and down — mostly on asphalt, with potholes, loose stones and short gravel sections. Helmets are provided and worn throughout the tour.
